This one of a kind chalcedony gemstone was originally discovered in a oversized heavy sterling silver setting. I recognized the beauty of the stone and wanted to give it a new life.
Removing it from the sterling silver setting and surrounding it with lovely diamonds set in a beautiful rose gold setting gave this gemstone a completely new look. I felt this did the gemstone justice.

Chalcedony is a cryptocrystalline form of silica, composed of very fine intergrowths of the minerals quartz and morganite. The name chalcedony comes from the ancient Greek town Chalkedon in Asia Minor and comes in many varieties such as: agate, aventurine, carnelian, chrysoprase, heliotrope, moss agate, morolite, onyx. As early as the Bronze Age chalcedony was used in the Mediterranean region at the Palace of Knossos, chalcedony seals having been recovered as early as 1800 B.C. The Romans prized chalcedony as seals, and the Victorians carved them into an endless array of cameos and intaglios. During the Renaissance, chalcedony was used during magic practices for health and safety.
